Is There Any Hope for ‘Forgotten Island’?

DreamWorks Animation's Forgotten Island was a box office disaster, even though it received wide critical acclaim.

Opening Weekend: It debuted domestically with just $12.8 million to $13 million, marking one of the lowest opening weekends in DreamWorks history, Global Gross: It brought in an estimated $7.8 million internationally for a global start of roughly $20.6 million to $25 million, Production Budget: The film cost around $80 million to produce, not including a full-scale marketing campaign, meaning it fell far short of breaking even.

Well, DreamWorks’ original animated film hit theaters with massive audience scores and studio excitement. It will likely need post-theatrical revenue just to break even, Instead, “Forgotten Island” landed at the box office this weekend with one of the Top 5 lowest opening weekends in DreamWorks Animation history: $13 million domestic and $20.6 million worldwide from 35 international territories. All against an $80 million budget before factoring in an extensive marketing campaign and the aforementioned promotional events.

The film still has 37 countries awaiting release, including the United Kingdom, Germany and France alongside much of Europe, but it still faces an extremely uphill battle....

Well, I Have Seen The Film Already And It Was Good, But It Needs More Praise And Support From Fans... But the more likely outcome is that “Forgotten Island” recoups its costs and turns a small profit through premium on-demand and other post-theatrical revenue sources. because they feel confident they will get their money’s worth for four or more movie tickets plus concessions, they are reticent to spend that money on an unfamiliar title.  it has seen strong PVOD revenue for DreamWorks films like “The Bad Guys 2" So, It Might Hit Digital And DVD Sales Just To Save This Film...

Unfortunately, for DreamWorks, "Forgotten Island" flopped in its debut. Despite being met with near-universal praise, Forgotten Island opened to an estimated $12.8 million domestically over the weekend, which was only enough for fifth place on the charts behind newcomers like Robert Pattinson's Chris Hansen movie "Primetime" ($19.1 million)

Sigh... At Least One Person And The Other People In The Theater Loved It, I Hope Dreamworks Saves For A New Animated Movie Soon...
