WGBH (the Boston PBS station that produces the show) was never entirely pleased when the show became a major source of memes, with many being made for adults. Their basic response was that they appreciated the love for the show from millennials who grew up with the show but expressed disdain for numerous memes that were considered to be of poor taste of the Arthur series.
