They do this because they feel the need to make up for their past crimes. However, they have already made Heel Face Turns at that point, and since the governor is aware of their good deeds, it's very likely that their sentence won't be too harsh. The final scene of the film shows them leaving the prison, having gotten out early for good behaviour.
• Professor Marmalade, the true villain, is arrested at the end of the film when he is accused of being the infamous thief, the Crimson Paw. He did commit a number of crimes and definitely deserves to be arrested, but interestingly, he is being accused of the wrong crimes. Once Governor Diane Foxington is exposed as the real Crimson Paw in the sequel, Marmalade gets acquitted and released from prison.
• Diane Foxington in The Bad Guys (2022) breaks into the S.U.C.M. prison and single-handedly takes down all the guards in order to free the innocent Bad Guys, whilst in her Crimson Paw outfit.
• The Bad Guys uses a 3D style with outlines drawn on top, as well as flat effects such as motion lines hand-drawn into scenes.
• In The Bad Guys (2022), just before initiating the heist for the Golden Dolphin, Mr. Wolf (disguised as "Oliver Poodleton") meets Governor Diane Foxington outside the museum. He complements her for fighting back against the dastardly Bad Guys, although unsuccessfully and comments on how they are bound to go down in criminal history. This ends up backfiring; Diane thinks he's joking and starts laughing, followed by her very detailed criticisms of their previous heist and correctly predicting they would make things personal, which would lead to their demise. Mr. Wolf is visibly rattled.
• The Bad Guys (2022) opens as an homage to Pulp Fiction with Mr. Wolf and Mr. Snake talking to each other before they rob a bank. This is done as one continuous shot with no cuts lasting two minutes, 25 seconds and seven frames. The longest one-shot in DreamWorks Animation history.
